It is reported that the comprehensive mechanization level of arable, seed and harvest of major crops in China has exceeded 40%, and the mechanization level of agriculture has been significantly improved, which has played a vital role in high and stable agricultural production.

Crop diseases and pests have always been the main factors affecting the harvest, so plant protection machinery has become the top priority to ensure food harvest.

Backward plant protection machinery, pesticide waste and serious pollution are the current situation of agricultural pest control in China. According to statistical analysis, China needs more than 300 million hectares of chemical control each year, and consumes about 1 million tons of pesticide preparations. At present, the application machinery used in rural areas is basically the products of the 1950s and 1960s, the technical level is relatively backward, the manufacturing process is very rough, coupled with no correct application technology and methods, the utilization rate of pesticides has been very low, the general utilization rate is 20%-30%, the minimum is less than 5%, (the utilization rate of European and American countries is 65%-75%). Most of the pesticides are lost to the soil, rivers and air, environmental pollution is quite serious, while aggravating the pesticide residues of crops, directly causing problems such as the quality and safety of agricultural products.

Compared with some developed countries with large-scale production and operation, whether it is application technology, machinery and equipment, specialization level or farmers' concept of prevention and control of diseases, pests and grasses, China is at a backward level. This is very inconsistent with the development of agricultural production in China, and does not adapt to the requirements of biological disasters, agricultural product quality and safety and national food security. Therefore, speeding up the mechanization process of plant protection and the level of plant protection professional prevention and treatment has become an imminent task of agricultural development in China.
